Target Vocabulary:

1. Brown

2. Red

3. Yellow

4. Blue

Target Instructions:

1. "Look at the..."

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

2. Follow the target instructions in English.

3. Identify the main characters in the story.

Materials Needed:

1. "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" by Eric Carle

2. Projector (for YouTube song)

3. Colour flashcards (red, blue, yellow, green)

4. Plush toys or pictures of the animals in the story

Lesson Procedure

1. **Warm-Up (5 mins)**: Start the lesson with a cheerful greeting. Review the colours using colour flashcards and encourage students to repeat after you. Use the target instruction "Look at the..." while showing the flashcards.

2. **Story Introduction (5 mins)**: Show the children the cover of the book and introduce it as today's story. Introduce the target instructions by demonstrating them with flashcards or plush toys. For example, say "Look at the brown card" and then "Point to the yellow card."

3. **Story Time (10 mins)**: Read the story aloud, using a lot of gestures and facial expressions to make the story engaging. Pause after each page to point to the animals and colours and encourage the students to do the same. Use the target instructions to engage students, for example, "Look at the blue horse," or "Can you point to the brown bear?" Make sure to cover the target vocabulary/animals (brown bear, red bird, blue horse, yellow duck).

4. **Song and Dance (10 mins)**:

4.1. Start by inviting each child individually to the teacher's area to collect a sleigh bell, making sure they then return to their seats in an orderly fashion.

4.2. Once all the children have their bells and are seated, kick off the music session by playing the YouTube song [Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuqvGiZi0qg) or [From Head to Toe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVlbmbAoqGM).

4.3. Encourage the children to dance along with the song and touch the appropriate body parts as they are named in the song. Use specific instructions during the song, such as "Point to your head," or "Can you shake your hand?"

4.4. After the song and dance session, ask each child to gently return their sleigh bells to the front, reminding them to be careful and avoid pushing each other.

Part 2: Art and Craft Activity

Activity: "Colourful Animal Creation"

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, students should be able to:

1. Recognize the colours associated with different animals from the story.

2. Develop fine motor skills through hands-on craft activity.

Materials Needed:

1. Paper plates

2. Pre-cut rectangular coloured paper (brown, red, blue, yellow)

3. Pre-drawn and pre-cut snouts, ears, and beaks (see image references below)

4. Googly eyes

5. Craft glue

Lesson Procedure

1. **Instructions (5 mins)**: Explain the activity to the children. Show them how to select the coloured paper of the animal they want to make, and guide them in glueing the pieces onto the paper plate. Show them the sample you prepared earlier as a reference.

2. **Art and Craft Time (20 mins)**: Let the children choose the animal they want to create and guide them as they work on their craft. Encourage them to recall the colours associated with each animal from the story. As you walk around to check on their progress, don't forget to use a marker to write their names at the back or on the bottom right of the paper plate.

3. **Review and Closure (5 mins)**: Ask each child to show their "Colourful Animal" to the class, and ask them questions about it such as "What animal is this?" or "What colour is your animal?" Praise their effort and creativity.

4. **Wash Up (5 mins)**: Guide the children in cleaning up their work area and washing their hands after the craft activity. This is a good opportunity to teach them about cleanliness and responsibility.
