Unit 1: Meet the Bear – Main Characters Introduction

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Percussion instrument (brass pipe and wooden block)
Bear family pictures/puppets (parent and baby bears)
Carpet spots/markers for children's positions
Pictures of bear families (2-3 large photos)



LESSON PROCEDURES:
Warm-up Movement (3 minutes)
• Place floor spot markers in paired formation
• Stand at front demonstration spot
• Demonstrate baby bear stretches: small reaches, playful rolls
• Invite children to follow movements


Welcome Circle (5 minutes)
• Arrange floor markers in circle formation
• Display and demonstrate brass pipe ('follow big bear' signal)
• Display and demonstrate wooden block ('baby bears rest' signal)
• Model following movements with small steps
• Model playful bear cub expressions
• Demonstrate partner interactions
