Unit 10: Show Preparation

LESSON 4: Final Polished Performance
Age Group: 2-3 years old
Duration: 30 minutes

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Drama: Students will be able to sustain character movement, speech, and expression across a full performance with clarity and confidence.  

  2. Music: Students will be able to coordinate singing with simple movements, maintaining a steady rhythm and joining group song moments throughout the full show.   

  3. Performance Readiness: Students will be able to maintain audience‑facing posture, stay focused during long group sequences, and perform smoothly and independently from start to finish.  

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1. Full set of props 
  2. Full set of costume 
  3. Floor arrows or entrance markers
  4. Assigned spot markers 
  5. Narrator script 
  6. Percussion instrument (chime or drum)

REMARK: If possible, carry out this lesson on the actual stage or performance space to help children become familiar with entrances, center positions, and exits in the real environment.


LESSON PROCEDURES:
1. Warm-up (3 minutes)

- Invite children to form a circle.  
- Guide gentle stretching to prepare bodies for a expressive performance.  
- Invite children to sing a short section of the Sharing Song with bright, energetic voices. 
 

2. Introduce Today’s Focus: Final Polished Performance (4 minutes)  

- Invite children to gather and listen to the day’s task.  
- Guide children to understand that today’s run‑through is the final rehearsal before the real show.  
- Guide children to aim for their best performance energy today.  
  

3. Full Polished Show Flow: Scenes 1–7 (20 minutes)

General Teacher Actions Throughout the Full Flow  

- Invite children to put on costumes and prepare props.  
- Guide children to move to their starting positions with calm focus.  
- Invite the narrator to begin the show.  
- Guide children to perform with high energy, expressive faces, and clear projection.  
- Invite children to maintain polished stillness during waiting moments.  
- Guide transitions using silent gestures only, keeping the flow smooth and professional.  
- Invite children to coordinate group singing and movement confidently.  
- Guide children to hold props clearly and safely for audience visibility.  
- Invite children to maintain character presence from start to finish.  
- Guide music cues to play at the correct moments without interruption.   


Scene‑Specific Teacher Actions (Following Script Order)
- Invite Bear Family to begin Scene 1 with strong expression and clear speech.  
- Guide Alligator and Wolf Families to prepare quietly for Scene 2 entrances.  
- Invite Ostrich and Monkey Families to enter confidently for Scene 3.  
- Guide Lion and Panda Families to prepare for Scene 4 with bright character energy.  
- Invite Kangaroo, Pig, and Lizard Families to enter smoothly for Scene 5.  
- Guide Gorilla Family to prepare for Scene 6 entrance with strong presence.  
- Invite all families to enter together for Scene 7’s final celebration, holding props high with polished posture.  
- Guide children to perform the final songs with full energy and expressive faces.  
- Invite children to hold a final freeze pose facing the audience.  


End‑of‑Show Bows

- Invite children to step forward as a group.  
- Guide children to smile warmly toward the audience.  
- Invite children to bow together on a teacher cue.  


4. Cool Down (2 minutes)

• Invite children to return to circle.  
• Lead soft breathing and gentle stretching.  

 


ASSESSMENT:

- Observe energy and expression across all scenes.  
- Assess polished stage behaviour and stillness during group moments.  
- Evaluate confidence in singing and movement coordination.  
- Monitor readiness and excitement for the real performance.
