LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Music: Students will sing the orange verse with appropriate dynamics (soft squeeze,big squeeze)
  2. Drama: Students will perform three distinct orange-related actions (peeling,squeezing, gathering) with control


MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1.  Percussion instrument (brass pipe and wooden block)
  2.  Real/toy orange props
  3.  Picture cards showing orange and actions
  4.  Carpet spots/markers for circle formation
  5. Orange-coloured scarves for movement
  6.  Simple rhythm instruments
  7.  Action sequence cards
  8.  Soft balls for squeeze practice

LESSON PROCEDURES:
1. Lead Warm-up Movement (5 mins)
- Guide rolling and circular arm movements to simulate orange shape
- Model finger strength exercises through gentle squeezing motions
- Demonstrate palm-opening and closing patterns with varying speeds
- Direct space awareness through circular walking patterns with arms

2. Organise Welcome Circle (5 mins)
- Arrange children using orange-coloured spot markers
- Present an orange passing game with gentle handling gestures
- Display contrast between the banana (previous lesson) and the orange pictures
- Facilitate rolling movements with soft balls to practice control

3. Demonstrate Actions (5 mins)
- Break down peeling action with clear finger movements
- Show squeezing motion variations (gentle and firm)
- Present gathering movement with smooth transitions
- Illustrate action sequence with clear start and end positions

4. Introduce Lyrics (5 mins)
- Show real/toy orange while emphasising the word "orange" with clear articulation
- Present action words (peel, squeeze, together) using picture sequences
- Repeat keywords using contrasting dynamics for "small squeeze" and "big squeeze"
- Connect words with gestures while using orange props

5. Model Verse Singing (5 mins)
- Perform the orange verse, highlighting the squeezing dynamics
- Break verse into manageable phrase, focusing on action words
- Use orange props to demonstrate the song sequence
- Support rhythm with percussion, showing strong and gentle beats

6. Guide Combined Practice (5 mins)
- Lead combined banana and orange verses
- Direct smooth transitions between fruits and actions
- Support proper movement intensity (gentle vs. firm)
- Maintain engagement through varied dynamics
