Unit 5: Character Roles & Parade Prep

LESSON 3: Juice Making Group Practice
Age Group: 2-3 years old
Duration: 30 minutes

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Drama: Students will be able to demonstrate character group actions while preparing rainbow juice.
  2. Music: Students will be able to sing the Rainbow Juice song together with coordinated gestures.
  3. Physical: Students will be able to hold fruit props and move in sequence during group practice.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1. Fruit props (grapes, pears, kiwis, limes, etc.)
  2. Animal role cards or badges (from Lesson 18)
  3. Basket or large container (to represent juice bowl)
  4. Carpet spots or floor markers
  5. Percussion instrument (chime or drum)
  6. Lesson PowerPoint:

LESSON PROCEDURES:
1. Warm-up (3 minutes

• Invite children to form a circle.
• Sing “Making Juice Song” with coordinated gestures.
• Guide fruit preparation actions with rhythm.
 

2. Introduce Rainbow Juice Concept (5 minutes)

• Present basket or container as the “Rainbow Juice Bowl.”
• Invite children to look at fruit props in different colors.
• Guide discussion: “All the fruits together make rainbow juice.”
• Reinforce idea with simple gestures (pointing to colors, stirring motions).
 

3.   Group Practice: Juice Making Actions (10 minutes)
• Invite each animal family to hold their fruit props.
• Guide sequence of actions:
1. Invite children to walk in line to the juice bowl.
2. Invite children to place or mime placing fruit into the bowl.
3. Invite children to mix and shake gently with hands.
4. Invite children to clap or tap rhythm while waiting for other groups.
• Reinforce group identity by announcing: “Welcome the [animal] family with their fruit!”


4.Rainbow Juice Song Practice (8 minutes)

• Invite all groups to gather in a semicircle around the bowl.
• Guide singing of the Rainbow Juice song with fruit gestures.
• Invite children to lift fruit props while singing.
• Guide simple sequence: hold fruit → place fruit → mix & shake → sing together.
• Reinforce group timing with chime signals.

5. Cool Down (3 minutes)

• Invite children to return to circle.
• Lead soft breathing and gentle stretching.
• Guide closing chant: “Rainbow juice is ready, thank you families.”
• Signal end with quiet humming of the Rainbow Juice melody.

 


ASSESSMENT:

1. Observe clarity of fruit-handling and sequence actions.
2. Assess participation in group juice-making practice.
3. Evaluate singing of Rainbow Juice song with gestures.
4. Monitor collaboration and timing across animal families.
