Unit 9: Putting It Together 

LESSON 3: Speech & Movement
Age Group: 2-3 years old
Duration: 30 minutes

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Drama: Students will be able to integrate movement, speech, and expression to perform their roles with clarity and confidence. 

  2. Music: Students will be able to coordinate singing with simple movements, keeping steady rhythm and joining group song moments with confidence. 

  3. Performance Readiness: Students will be able to face the audience, stay focused during group moments, and coordinate their actions smoothly with others on stage.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1. Fruit props (apples, oranges, lemons, etc.)  
  2. Floor arrows or entrance markers
  3. Assigned spot markers 
  4. Narrator script 
  5. Percussion instrument (chime or drum)

REMARK: If possible, carry out this lesson on the actual stage or performance space to help children become familiar with entrances, center positions, and exits in the real environment.


LESSON PROCEDURES:
1. Warm-up (3 minutes)

• Invite children to form a circle.
• Guide singing of the Making Juice Song with designed movements to warm up voices. 
 

2. Introduce Today’s Focus: Speech & Movement (4 minutes)

• Invite children to watch a teacher demonstration of:  
  - entering on cue  
  - stopping at a spot  
  - delivering a line while facing the audience  
  - moving into formation for the song  
• Guide attention to how speech connects to movement and colour order (yellow → green → purple).  
• Invite children to respond to a character roll call using performing voice:  
  - When different Animal names are called, invite children to reply with a performing voice: “I am here.”  

3. Practise Scenes 4, 5 & 6: Full Script Flow (20 minutes)

Scene 4 — Yellow Juice (Lion → Panda → Song Entry)
Lion Entrance & Introductions

• Invite Lion Family to wait for the narrator cue.  
• Guide Lions to enter, walk to their spots, and deliver introductions in order.  
• Invite children to maintain still bodies while others speak.


Lion Fruit Line  
• Invite Lion Family to deliver:  “Hi Bears! We have lemons.”  
• Guide children to hand lemons calmly and return to still posture.

Panda Entrance & Introductions

• Invite Panda Family to listen for their narrator cue.  
• Guide Pandas to enter after Lions finish their fruit line.  
• Invite Pandas to deliver introductions in order.
 

Panda Fruit Line  

• Invite Panda Family to deliver: “Hi Bears! We have pineapples.”  
• Guide children to wait for the Bears’ “Thanks!” before moving.
 

Scene 4 Song Entry

• Invite Bears, Lions, and Pandas to shift into the juice‑making formation.  
• Guide children to begin the song verse on cue.
 

Scene 5 — Green Juice (Kangaroo → Pig → Lizard → Song Entry)

Kangaroo Entrance & Introductions
• Invite Kangaroo Family to wait for the narrator cue.  
• Guide Kangaroos to enter, walk to their spots, and deliver introductions in order.
 

Kangaroo Fruit Line 

• Invite Kangaroo Family to deliver: “Hi Bears! We have kiwis.”  
• Guide children to hand fruit calmly and return to still posture.
 

Pig Entrance & Introductions  

• Invite Pig Family to listen for their narrator cue.  
• Guide Pigs to enter after Kangaroos finish their fruit line.  
• Invite Pigs to deliver introductions in order.
 

Pig Fruit Line 

• Invite Pig Family to deliver: “Hi Bears! We have pears.”  
• Guide children to wait for the Bears’ “Thanks!” before moving.

Lizard Entrance & Introductions 

• Invite Lizard Family to listen for their narrator cue.  
• Guide Lizards to enter after Pigs finish their fruit line.  
• Invite Lizards to deliver introductions in order.
 

Lizard Fruit Line 

• Invite Lizard Family to deliver: “Hi Bears! We have limes.”  
• Guide children to hand fruit calmly and return to still posture.
 

Scene 5 Song Entry

• Invite Bears, Kangaroos, Pigs, and Lizards to shift into the juice‑making formation.  
• Guide children to begin the song verse on cue.
 

Scene 6 — Purple Juice (Gorilla → Song Entry)

Gorilla Entrance & Introductions 
• Invite Gorilla Family to wait for the narrator cue.  
• Guide Gorillas to enter, walk to their spots, and deliver introductions in order.
 

Gorilla Fruit Line
• Invite Gorilla Family to deliver: “Hi Bears! We have grapes.”  
• Guide children to wait for the Bears’ “Thanks!” before moving.
 

Scene 6 Song Entry 
• Invite Bears and Gorillas to shift into the juice‑making formation.  
• Guide children to begin the song verse on cue.  


4. Cool Down (2 minutes)

• Invite children to return to circle.  
• Lead soft breathing and gentle stretching.  

 


ASSESSMENT:

- Observe smooth linking of speech to colour‑juice sequence.  
- Assess coordinated entrances and fruit lines without pauses.  
- Evaluate ensemble focus during other groups’ speaking moments.  
- Monitor transitions into song formations and spoken cues.
