Materials Needed:

- Clear glass jars with lids

- Shaving cream (white, unscented)

- Blue food coloring

- Droppers

- Clear plastic bottles with lids

- Water

- Picture cards showing:

  • Clouds

  • Rain

  • Weather types

- Waterproof aprons

- Paper towels

- Rain songs recordings

- Blue glitter (teacher use only)


Lesson Procedure

3 mins - Welcome Time

• Sing "Hello Song"

• Show rain pictures

• Make rain sounds together

 

7 mins - Discovery Chat

• Look at cloud pictures

• Make cloud shapes with hands

• Talk about rain falling

• Introduce vocabulary: rain, cloud, drop, splash

• Sing "Rain Rain Go Away"

 

10 mins - Hands-On Challenge 1: Cloud in a Jar

• Part 1 (5 mins):

  - Show prepared cloud jar

  - Demonstrate "rain" falling

  - Make rain sounds

  - Use phrases: "Look at the rain!" "Drip drop!"

• Part 2 (5 mins):

  - Children take turns adding drops

  - Watch blue "rain" fall

  - Count drops together

  - Use phrases: "One drop!" "Rain falling!"

 

10 mins - Hands-On Challenge 2: Water Tornado Demo

• Part 1 (5 mins):

  - Teacher demonstrates tornado bottle
