3. Guide Tale Bot to find nocturnal animals using basic commands


Materials Needed:


• Tale Bot robot
• Flashlight
• White screen/wall
• Animal shadow puppets
• Black construction paper
• Brown paper strips
• Animal stickers/cutouts
• Glue sticks
• "Night Owl" puppet


Lesson Procedure


### 3 mins - Welcome Time
• Sing the "Hello Song"
• Introduce "Night Owl" puppet
• Turn lights down slightly

### 5 mins - Discovery Chat
• Show nocturnal animal pictures:
  - "Who comes out at night?"
  - "What do they do?"
  - "How do they see?"
• Practice animal sounds:
  - Owl: "Hoo-hoo"
  - Bat: "Squeak-squeak"
  - Raccoon: "Chitter-chitter"
• Demonstrate night/day actions

### 10 mins - Hands-On Challenge 1: Shadow Guessing
• Set up shadow puppet area:
  - Hang white sheet/screen
  - Position flashlight
  - Prepare animal puppets
• Play guessing game:
  - Show animal shadow
  - Listen to animal sound
  - Children guess animal
• Practice making shadows:
  - Children try puppets
  - Make big/small shadows
  - Move shadows around

### 10 mins - Hands-On Challenge 2: Night Forest Search
• Create forest scene:
  - Place animal cards
  - Add tree obstacles
  - Mark paths
• Guide Tale Bot search:
  - "Find the owl"
  - "Look for bat"
  - "Spot the raccoon"
• Celebrate discoveries:
  - Make animal sounds
  - Shine flashlight

• Prepare materials:
  - Black paper background

• Create night scene:
