  2. Understand how path design affects ball movement
  3. Build a working ball run with turns and stable supports

 

Materials Needed:
- Magnetic tiles (20 per child)
- Marbles/small balls
- Base plates (1 per child)
- Picture cards of slides/ramps
- Example ball run model
- Height blocks/supports
- Collection buckets for landing
- Timer
- "Slide Builder" stickers
- Documentation camera/tablet

Lesson Procedure

**3 mins - Welcome Time**
• Lead "Hello Song"
• Roll ball down simple ramp
• Show picture of slides
• Ask "Where do balls go?"

 

**7 mins - Discovery Chat: How Balls Roll**

• Demonstrate ball rolling:
- Steep vs. gentle slope
- Straight vs. curved path
- Fast vs. slow
• Introduce vocabulary: roll, slide, path, platform
• Show working example

 

**15 mins - Hands-On Challenge 1: Build Platforms**
• Give each child:
- 10 magnetic tiles
- Base plate
- Support pieces
• Guide building:
- Make stable base
- Add platform top
- Test stability
- Check height

 

**15 mins - Hands-On Challenge 2: Create Paths**
• Continue building:
- Add slide pieces
- Make turns
- Connect sections
- Test with ball
• Fix problems:
- Adjust angles
- Secure connections
- Test ball speed

 

**10 mins - Hands-On Challenge 3: Test and Improve**
• Final testing:
- Roll ball multiple times
- Watch ball path
- Fix stuck spots
- Make improvements
• Share successes:
- Show working runs
- Point out good ideas
- Test each other's

• Sort tiles
• Return balls
