Lesson 8 Sunflower Fun 

## Course Aim: 

The Tiny Tales course encourages toddlers to learn English through immersive story-based  experiences. It nurtures language acquisiEon, cogniEve development, and a passion for  narraEves by involving students in interacEve tales and related acEviEes.

**Class Size:** 3 children 

**Class DuraEon:** 1 hour

## Lesson Plan: Sunflower Fun 

### Learning ObjecEves: 

By the end of this acEvity, students should be able to: 

1. Create a sunflower artwork inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. 

2. Explore and apply different shades of yellow and orange in painEng. 

3. Develop fine motor skills through cuZng, painEng, and assembling acEviEes. 

### Materials List: 

- Pre-cut paper cups (big and small) with spread-open petals 

- Pre-cut rectangles (big and small) for table surfaces 

- Pre-cut white drawing paper for vases 

- Paints: yellow, orange, light brown, dark brown 

- Brushes and pale^es 

- Glue sEcks or liquid glue 

- Green paper for stems (opEonal) 

### PreparaEon: 

Before the class, the teacher should: 

1. Ensure all materials are prepared and organized on the materials table. 2. Pre-cut paper cups, rectangles, and vases to save Eme during the class. 3. Create a sample sunflower arrangement to serve as an example for the students.

### Class Details: 

1. **IntroducEon (5 mins)**: 

 - Introduce the art focus by discussing Vincent Van Gogh and showing images of his  sunflower painEngs. 

 - Discuss the different materials and techniques they will be using today. 

2. **PainEng Sunflowers (10 mins)**: 

 - Distribute pre-cut paper cups to each student. 

 - Demonstrate how to paint the petals in different shades of yellow and orange.  - Allow students to paint the seeds with dark brown. 

3. **Designing the Vase (10 mins)**: 

 - Provide each student with pre-cut white drawing paper vases. 

 - Invite students to design and paint their vases using their choice of colors and pa^erns. 

4. **Assembling the Artwork (10 mins)**: 

 - Show students how to sEck one rectangle as the table surface on a background sheet.  - Assist students in arranging and gluing the vase and sunflowers onto the table surface.  - Add stems if needed using green paper. 

5. **Finishing Touches (10 mins)**: 

 - Encourage students to review their artwork and add any addiEonal details or  improvements. 

 - Allow creaEvity in arranging the elements for a balanced composiEon. 

6. **Clean-Up and Review (5 mins)**: 

 - Help students clean up their spaces and organize the materials. 

 - Display all the finished artworks and conduct a short discussion, allowing students to share  their thoughts about their creaEons and the techniques they used.

• More capable students can draw sunflowers.  

• For younger students or lessons with less Eme, students can use colour paper as  background and sEck coloured rectangles as the table surface. They can also use  collage or printmaking to decorate the vase.
